Thought I would replace the cables at the same time as changing the brake blocks, has improved operation, especially on the rear which sometimes used to lock up once I had pulled the lever.
Outer sheath length is fine, but plenty of excess cable to cut off or wrap up at the brake block end, take that as a good thing or bad.
