Description

This traditional singletree dog harness is used for weight pulling, sledding, and heavy-duty hauling. Frequently, it is used in wheel position (near the sled) because the low-draft hitch is more level with the gangline.

The hitch ring uses limited side slip to compensate for off-center loads, and the backstraps feature the same sliding "X" as the X-back harness.

This harness comes with a hardwood spreader kit. The spreader bar should be slightly wider than the rear of the dog. You may cut the bar if needed. The spreader bar should be touching the rear of the dog when the harness is in a relaxed position. Put the screws provided through the fabric and into the pre-drilled spreader bar. The height of the hitch is adjustable, so the load is always held in place for maximum pull.

3 measurements are required for this harness - Please read our guide on Measuring your Dog for a Weight Pull Harness.

Details of Padding options can be found here.

Please note, these harnesses are made to order and there is a delivery time of approximately 4-8 weeks. Please be sure that this is the style harness you want and the size you order is the correct size. These harnesses are custom made and may NOT be returned.

Measuring Guide

We require three measurements for the Weight Pull or Carting Harness: the Neck Measurement, the Tail Measurement, and the Rear Measurement.

Neck - Measure from just ahead of the withers at the base of the neck to the top of the breastbone, then double this measurement. Work the tape under the fur; pull it snug, but not stretched. Measure the dog, not the fur!

Measure only one side of the dog, and then double the measurement. Wrapping the tape measure all the way around the neck may distort the measurement.

Do not measure where the collar sits, but lower - please see the heavy black line on the diagram below.

Tail - Start tape at top of breastbone in the centre of the chest. Pass the tape between the front legs, then up around rib cage on one side of the body to base of tail. Lift tail to feel join. This measurement does NOT need to be doubled.

Check fit of tail length by pulling on webbing to see if the webbing will come to the base of the tail. Webbing should not come to the base of the tail unless there is tension against it. The more coat the dog has, the more tension is required.

Rear - Start tape at top of breastbone, pass between front legs, following the line of the centre of the ribs, then to back of thigh (this will be the position of the spreader bar).

Amazing :grinning_face_with_star_eyes:

I needed a new Harness for my Collie, whom I race with. And although it’s a bit pricey. I’m amazed with how well it’s made and how well it’s holding up. A total of 5 out of 5 stars.
